A New Year and new beginnings for 2021

Although it's already March, this year has become a time to reset our Alpaca ambitions.

Most recently our white stud, Pablo and one of our matriarchs, Carla ,were euthanised. Both were 16+ , Pablo fractured his hip, probably in a fight with the other stud males and Carla had cancer.

Such sad times.

In the meantime, our herd was renewed with the arrival of 2 cria -a blue black male, Blackjack and a caramel coloured female, called Milo.

That leaves us with 3 Black stud males and as most of our herd are now related, albeit distantly we have sent a few black girls off to mate with a new boy from the "east" and will offer 2 of the black stud males for sale.

The new genetics should give our dwindling herd a new lease of life, but of course it will be a year or so before we see any progeny as an Alpaca's gestation period is 11-12 months.

We still await our new float, delayed by one of the many obstacles Covid has thrown up.

However as all the local shows have been cancelled until now, the float would have been idle anyway.

Still it would have allowed us to transfer our girls further afield for matings. That will now have to wait for next year.

So having sold out of wethers in 2020, our animals for sale are few..

Do get in touch, though if you are looking for any animals as we may be able to source some for you, if we ourselves don't have what you need.
